District Disaster Relief

The Missouri / Arkansas District is a proud supporter of Brethren Disaster Ministries. Gary Gahm serves as our district’s Disaster Response Coordinator.

July 5th 2021 Update:

I am looking for volunteers to help with a short term rebuild in Valley, Nebraska.  We are looking at October (exact dates to be announced).  The work will be rebuilding of homes that were flooded almost three years ago.  We hoped to go last fall but the virus put an end to that.  There are 21 homes ready to rebuild.  We will be working with Western Plains and Northern Plains.  By working with the other districts, we hope to get a full crew of volunteers to be able to get the most done.  This will be a two-week project at this time.  Two one-week times.  I was there last year working on the plans, so know the area well.  The group we are working with know our skill level and feel we can get a lot done in the two weeks.  We need two full crews to get this done.

All construction skills are needed.  Even if you do not know much about construction you will learn on the job.  This is a good time for people to see what a project is all about.  This is also a good time to make new friends and help families in need.  We need persons to keep the area clean for the safety of all (possibly the most important job at the site).

There will be Covid rules to follow before you arrive and while on the site.  The rules are working well in Dayton, Ohio, on that site.

If you are interested in going, please let me know as soon as possible.  When the dates are confirmed I will let you know.

Updates will be at:  missouriarkansasbrethren.org , this is the district website.  Click on District Disaster Relief.  A lot of the pictures are from the start of the rebuild in Eureka, Missouri.  Other pictures are from project my son and I have been on.  I will answer any questions you may have.  It is time to get back out and do what Brethren do best, helping those in need.
